Salty Mary's Oyster Bar and Tavern

This is one of my favorite restaurants now. I have been here twice and both times everything was fantastic. Me and my girlfriend sat at the bar and love the atmosphere with two large TVs for sports games. Service was quick and pleasant. We ordered spirits, wine, and food. The most impressive part is the quality and taste of the seafood. Our total for everything was so good of a value. I’ve paid triple at “fancy” restaurants and I would rather come here.

1st time here and we will be back! Appetizers- Mussels. Plump and juicy came with fresh crusty bread. But no Knife or butter for bread. 😋 Cajun Shrimp Linguine spicy just right w/ broccoli and chopped tomatoes. Huge pink Shrimp! Hubby had Grilled Mahi with risotto and veggies. Finished off with fresh coffee & Cherry bread pudding but not many cherries. Not really bread pudding but fresh and good.

On this particular visit, the place was about ¾ capacity at 5:30 and by 7:30 it had emptied out quite a bit. This was fall, but the summer may be a lit busier because they have a nice sized patio. The menu has a good selection of sandwiches, appetizers, and entrees to choose from. Our server says that the menu changes frequently, so it doesn'tt get stale. The kitchen was constantly bringing out food, so you won't wait a long time to be served. During this visit, our table ordered the Clambake, the Salmon, BBQ Shrimp & Grits, The salmon was super tender and flacky. It came with grilled sliced veggies. The shrimp & grits was a large portion with about 7pcs of shrimp. The grits were creamy and smooth with a good flavor The Clambake was a good-sized portion but a little disappointing. It came with a dozen little neck clams, clam chowder, redskin potatoes, ½ chicken, bread, and about a ½ piece of corn on the cob that was cut into 3 pieces. Most of the food on the clambake was cold. The butter was not only cold, but it just tasted like oil. The chowder was really good. It had large chunks of potato & clams in it and was very flavorful. The chicken was moist and had a nice crisp to the skin with a real good flavor. They also have a good selection of desserts, which looked real good passing by but no one at our table had tried anything. I will try this place again in the future to see what new items they put on the menu.

Unbelievable food. I had fish and chips, but I switched out the chips for green beans. The green beans had a unique lemon flavor, the cod was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, flaky and mild on the inside. My wife had shrimp and grits and she gave it a 10. The shrimp was large and very fresh. It had a New Orleans sauce. The coffee was hot and fresh. The service was outstanding.
